AutoCad WS is definitly a great tool to have, here is why…
1. iPHONES, iPADS, ANDROIDS AND THE WEB
It’s working very well over all these items!
I must admit there are more features available over the web app.
Why not make changes or markups right on the field!
2. OSNAPS
AutoCad WS is a light version of AutoCad. It has all the basic features you need.
- drawing
- measuring (distances and areas)
- changing view modes (grayscale, as cad model, as plot)
- editing text,
- dimensioning etc…
What’s interesting is that you can set object snaps for precise input.
(TYPE SNAP IN THE COMMAND LINE)
3. LAYER MANAGMENT
It is possible to create, choose, turn on and off layers you don’t want to see and so on…
4. LAYOUTS & UNIT PRECISION
I also liked the navigation between model space and paper space. You can easily switch from one layout to the other. I’ll throw another one in there, you can also change units precision. (0, 0.0, 0.00, 0.000, 0.0000)
5. GOOGLE MAP
One cool thing was the google map feature.
I was able to choose the type of map I wanted (street, satellite, hybrid etc…)and find the location quickly. I could also rotate the map, place and scale the drawing to it’s final position.
6. PLOT FEATURE
Why not print your drawings directly off the web.
7. E-MAIL SHARING AND QUICK LINKS
You can also share a quick link via e-mail and choose whether or not you allow editing or download
8. COMMAND LINE!
And for those who are nostalgic like me here is a command line!
9. STORAGE SPACE
So far you are allowed 3G of storage per user (seat). Not bad for a start, besides it’s free.
10. AUTOCAD PLUG-IN, PUBLISH TO CLOUD
You can also install a plug-in for AutoCad and publish your drawings directly to the cloud.
If you are offline you will be able to edit your files even without an Internet connection.
I am sure you will find more features that you like.
